Faith to Action Network was represented at the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by our CEO, Rev. Jane Ng’ang’a, who joined global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and faith actors committed to advancing the global HIV response.
The conference provided an important platform to demonstrate how faith communities continue to shape policy discussions, strengthen community-led responses, and expand equitable access to HIV prevention, treatment, and care. As a contributing panellist in the session From Dialogue to Action: Advancing Faith and Political Leadership for HIV Innovation and Accountability, Rev. Ng’ang’a shared perspectives on the critical role of faith leadership in promoting accountability, reducing stigma, and supporting people-centred health systems. The session was convened in collaboration with the World Council of Churches and ViiV Healthcare.
Beyond the conference sessions, the event created valuable opportunities to strengthen partnerships with organizations working at the forefront of global health. Discussions with FHI 360 explored opportunities for future collaboration in leveraging the reach and influence of faith communities to improve health outcomes, while engagements with the Society for AIDS in Africa reaffirmed a shared commitment to amplifying the voices of faith actors across the continent. The announcement that the next ICASA Conference will be hosted in Benin also presents new opportunities to deepen collaboration and increase the visibility of faith-led responses to HIV in Africa.
Reflecting on the conference, Rev. Ng’ang’a emphasized that while significant scientific advances have brought the world closer to ending AIDS as a public health threat, sustained political commitment, equitable access to innovation, adequate financing, and strong community partnerships remain essential. Faith communities continue to be trusted partners in promoting prevention, reducing stigma, expanding access to care, and ensuring that the voices of communities are reflected in decision-making.

By strengthening collaboration across the faith and health sectors, the Network continues to champion inclusive, community-centred approaches that advance health equity and ensure no one is left behind.
