Dr. Christina de Vries

Dr. Christina de Vries is a member of the Steering Council and works is a Senior Health Expert at the Cordaid Global Office. Cordaid is a merged Catholic & Protestant organisation with a double mandate for development cooperation and emergency relief.

Biography

Dr. Christina was first trained as a Medical Doctor before obtaining an MSc in Community Health in London. She first worked for the Church of Christ in Nigeria (CoCIN) for a number of years. Thereafter, she worked for various religious-based organisations visiting over 25 countries in Asia and Africa for project support and capacity building. She has also served in various Boards for organisations such as World Council of Churches (previous Editing Board of ‘Contact’), the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (previous Board member), Medicus Mundi Internationalis (previous Board member). She serves as a Board member of the Dutch Association for International Health.

Christina provides technical expertise in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, HIV/AIDS, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, strengthening health systems and global health.

In addition, she provides support to contextual issues such as the role of religion and religious leaders towards medical-ethical issues and on approaches in combatting stigma and discrimination. Her main contribution is to promote access to healthcare for all.
