Faith to Action network in partnership with Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO)-the NEAPACOH Secretariat, the NEAPACOH Executive Committee, the National Assembly of Lesotho and partners, hosted the 15th NEAPACOH meeting on 28th -29th Feb/ 2024 in Maseru, Lesotho themed, “Towards ICPD 30 and achievement of Universal Health Coverage: Imperatives for accelerated implementation and the role of Parliamentarians.’’ The meeting convened delegates and members of Parliamentary Committees responsible for health, finance, budget, natural resources and environment from 16 countries (Benin, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, The Gambia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) as well as representatives of international organizations, development and technical partners, national population councils, health champions, researchers and academics, Civil Society Organizations, and other stakeholders engaged in programmes on HIV, TB, NCDs, health security and integration of population, health and environment in Africa.
Faith To Action representation at the 2024 NEAPACOH Conference included bringing partners from the East Africa Legislative Assembly, Local Partner MedRap from Zambia, and members from the SADC Parliamentary Forum. Faith to Action Network Knowledge Management Lead Prof. Ezra Chitando moderated a session on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and the inter-faith nexus.
This engagement is another testament to how Faith to Action Network bridges dialogue across parliamentary fora in Africa. It thus is a strategic alley in undertaking large-scale pan Africa programmes that bring together local implementing partners, legislators, and SRHR actors.
