Partners working in Nakuru County can now work collectively towards a guided objective in achieving family health outcomes for the wellbeing of women, families and communities thanks to the newly launched Family Planning Costed Implementation plan 2016/17-2020/21 and the Reproductive Maternal Newborn Adolescent Health (RMNAH) investment framework 2016/7-2020/21.
Kenya Muslim Youth Development Organization (KMYDO), a member organization of Faith to Action Network worked together with the County Government of Nakuru, through the department of health to develop the family planning costed implementation plan and the RMNAH investment framework. Key partners from the government and CSOs were involved in technical working group tasked with the process of developing the documents and after several drafting sessions and feedback meetings with the larger stakeholders forums, the documents were signed and approved by the county Governor, as Nakuru county policy documents.
Success with the faith involvement in development of these key documents is attributable to the PAI’s Faith + FP grant, that was instrumental in advocacy, and mobilisation of the technical working groups in working towards the costed implementation plans and investment framework.
Faith to Action provided technical support to KYMDO in mobilising resources and implementing of their family planning advocacy project especially through various training by the Network including AFP SMART Advocacy approach. As a result, KMYDO boasts of being the first Muslim organization and by extension the first Faith based organization in Kenya to lead this path and deliver the twin documents. As a result of this initiative, KMYDO is now leading similar initiative in the counties of Wajir and Kilifi.
